Media Release: $20M revamp for Fremantle Oval
The East Fremantle Football Club is committed to investigate the possibility of moving its Administration facilities and playing our 10 home games each year at Fremantle Oval.
The City of Fremantle has just completed its business plan which allocates funding of $20M to co-locate East Fremantle FC & South Fremantle FC in a new facility at Fremantle Oval.
The integrated project includes the re-alignment of the oval to be closer to the Victoria Pavilion, new club administration facilities, commercial office/retail space, a gymnasium and grass banking.
The Oval will also have a lighting upgrade to allow night TV broadcasts at Fremantle Oval, plus 350 underground parking bays as part of the redevelopment.
The East Fremantle Board is committed to retaining its presence at ATOM Stadium but needs significant funding to upgrade the current facilities that have been in place since the 1950’s.
If funding is not found to upgrade the current facilities at East Fremantle Oval, then the possibility of training at East Fremantle Oval and playing at Fremantle Oval becomes a realistic possibility.
The Club is waiting on Sport & Recreation report being conducted by the Town of East Fremantle on their sporting facilities within the Town, due to be complete in April 2016. Once this report is complete, we will meet with the Town of East Fremantle to discuss their vision for the East Fremantle Football Club over the next 10 to 20 years.
ATOM Stadium is home to our 3 grades of football each week, but is utilised by a large amount of community & junior football organisations throughout the year. (Womens’ Football, Development squads, Junior games, Charity games, Auskick carnivals, Junior & Amateur finals, plus Relay for Life in October.
The East Fremantle Football Club Board will work closely with both Councils over the next 3 months to get the best outcome for the East Fremantle Football Club in regards to facilities and the long term vision for our great football club.
