Undefeated Premiers 1946 - East Fremantle FC
The following is part of the story about our 1946 undefeated side, if you would like to read more you can purchase our 100 Years of History book for $10.
UNDEFEATED PREMIERS 1946
The Greatest in History
Statistically, the record of the 1946 team may never be equalled for it won the whole of its 21 League matches. As the club had won the last ten games in the previous year and won four matches at the beginning of 1947, 35 matches were won without a defeat.
At the beginning of the 1946 season, no one could have foreseen such a successful run was in sight. Midway in the season, it suddenly dawned on the players that an unbeaten season was a possibility.
The strain became unbearable, and when relief came in the form of the 21st premiership after two never-to-be-forgotten contests against West Perth, coach Dolan, said that never again would he subject players to such an ordeal.
