R6 WAFLW Match Day Review thanks to The Left Bank

The ANZAC round Fremantle Derby took place under lights this past Saturday in WAFLW action.
Mid-West academy product Jasmine Johansen ran out in the blue & white for the first time at League level, Nadya Browne and Georgia Bett made their first League appearances for the season while Lauren O’Connor, Tara Maciupa and Leanne Gubbins came into the side.
As anticipated, it was a hotly contested start to the game with neither side giving an inch. The home team registered the first goal of the game before O’Connor kicked an important goal on the quarter time siren.
The second term saw the Sharks put some scoreboard pressure on with a superb roving goal from Chloe Reilly before the forward took a clever one-handed mark and goal to extend the Sharks lead at half-time.
The Bulldogs made their move in the third quarter kicking three unanswered goals. However, the Sharks answered the challenge early in the fourth with a composed build up ending with an on the run goal to Ashlee Atkins. South edged in front once again before both sides traded shots on goal before Atkins pushed a set shot on goal just wide after the siren as the Bulldogs registered a 5 point win.
Sharon Wong was awarded the Wrightson Medal for the East Fremantle player that best displayed the ANZAC spirit.
The Sharks head to Bassendean this Sunday to take on Swan Districts at 2pm.

ROGERS CUP
On Friday night, the Rogers Cup team took on South Fremantle with the Bulldogs emerging victorious.
Mid-West player Maddison Kelly made her debut while Ava Sartori returned to the team and Geneva Johansen and Gisela Zumpano played their first games of the year.
Kelly and Taylah York were the goal kickers on the night while the awards went to the following players:
