ROUND 2 WAFL PREVIEW
ROUND 2 WAFL PREVIEW
The East Fremantle Sharks head to Steel Blue Oval to take on Swan Districts in an early season crunch game. Both teams are coming off narrow losses and will be keen to notch their first win of the season. East Fremantle were the only team to beat Swan Districts at Steel Blue last season, in a tight battle which saw the Sharks overcome a 5 goal half time deficit to win by 10 points.
Swans contain a formidable midfield and the battle between Aidan Clarke, Jesse Turner and Sandover Medallist, Sam Fisher against Tom Joyce, Kyle Baskerville and Milan Murdock will be pivotal in the result. Swans have a multi-faceted forward line that will again require Matthew Jupp, Lachlan Bailey and Finn Gorringe to be on their game. The Sharks will be looking for a lift from their key forwards, with Hugh Dixon and Dillon O’Reilly lowering their colours last week against Peel.
Luke English continued on his excellent 2022 form last week with 17 disposals and 3 goals while Alex Montauban returns to the side to offer another avenue to goal. Jarrad Jansen misses the clash due to personal reasons while Matthew Burton and Max Murphy return for their first League games of the season. .

CAM EARDLEY 150 GAMES
Cam Eardley notches up his 150th game for the club and is eligible for EFFC Life Membership.
The dashing midfielder turned defender has been a high level performer over the 9 completed seasons at the Sharks.
Drafted to Geelong at the end of 2011, Eardley would win a VFL premiership with the Cats before returning in 2014. A versatile player, Cam established himself as one of the competitions prime midfielders before a late career move to half back saw him elevate his game further.
Noted for his courage, competitiveness and aerial ability, Eardley has been pivotal in the Sharks rise up the ladder. His form has seen him earn State selection in the past 2 State games.
The Sharks Reserves will be looking to remain in the winners circle when they take on a strong Swans Reserves side. A host of players return after missing Round 1 with Lennon Marlin and Muoteer Reech pulling on the Sharks jumper for the first time. Other players to come into the side include Tom Wallis and Josh Ritchie. A new addition in 2023, Jack Walsh was a strong performer last week against Peel, collecting 26 disposals and 11 tackles to lead the way from the midfield, while young defenders Kale Paton, Sam Collins and Keanu Haddow will be looking to continue their good form.
