RD5 - AOS Colts Match Day Report
RD5 - AOS Talent Match Day Report
Futures :
An early morning Good Friday road trip led us to Lane Group Stadium for our clash with Peel Thunder.
Although Peel had only recorded one victory so far in the carnival , they are always a tough opponent especially on their home turf.
The early morning obviously suited us as we commenced the first quarter with some real intent and drive and was rewarded with a fast start to lead by 24 points at quarter time.
Peel settled better in the second quarter working their way into the game and started to win more of the ball. To our credit the boys continued to hold their structure and play the game style asked of them. Whilst it was a more even quarter , our half time lead had stretched out to 30 points.
The third quarter was goal for goal as we maintained our advantage heading into the last quarter. The last quarter saw us regain our ascendency across the field and take further control of the match to run out comfortable 47 point winners.
Jake Boniwell continued his strong form with 3 goals and a dominant performance up forward, Tom Grylls was strong through the midfield for four quarters and Oliver Mcmanus provided some great run from half back and the wing throughout the day.
The futures carnival wraps up this Sunday 9:10am at Steel Blue Oval in what should be a tight tussle.
Colts :
After a long and hard pre-season Round 1 had finally arrived. It was time to put everything the squad had been working on over the last five months into practice.
Keen to continue a winning start to the day from our Futures, the colts arrived ready to play.
A strong first quarter performance allowed us a 14 point lead at the first break. Our midfield worked to give our forwards plenty of ball, whilst our defence stood strong and rebounded strongly when needed.
The 2nd and 3rd quarter continued in the same vein as we controlled the play for long period of times, whilst never really shutting Peel out of the game. The 3rd quarter lead was a handy 18 point lead.
The final quarter saw Peel come hard at us , but we remained focussed on playing our style allowing us to remain consistent to the final siren and record a pleasing 33 point victory.
Presley Campbell gave tremendous drive from half-back over the 4 quarters to finish with 36 possessions, Dante Wiseman was very lively up forward all day and capped of his work with 5 goals, whilst Sam Otto worked extremely hard in the ruck and around the gound with 27 diposals including 8 marks and a goal.
All in all it was pleasing day for the colts recording a good victory against some quality opposition.
This week we play Swan Districts at 9:10am on Saturday morning at Steel Blue Oval.
