Welcome to the Sharks Eddie Simpson
East Fremantle are pleased to announce the signing of Eddie Simpson for the 2022 WAFL Season.
Originally from the Swanbourne JFC, Eddie joins East Fremantle from the East Perth Football Club in a straight swap for Nic Bonomelli and Cam Davidson. Simpson has played 53 WAFL games for Claremont and the Royals in the WAFL, leading the goal-kicking for East Perth in 2020 and 2021.
The 199cm marking key forward offers Bill Monaghan and coaching staff another tall option up forward following the loss of Brynn Teakle in the mid-season AFL draft and long term injury of Cody Leggett. He can also provide ruck support for Jeremy Goddard and Reuben McGuire.
Simpson, who began training with the team late last week, is excited about the opportunity to join the Sharks.
“Watching from a distance, the Sharks have been building over the past few seasons and have played some great football this season. They have the ability to score quickly and that’s certainly exciting as a forward.”
There is also a link to the Sharks through the late Percy Johnson.
“I did a lot or work with Percy during my time at Claremont and I reckon he would’ve been pretty excited that I was donning the Blue and White. I’m looking forward to coming in and providing a strong marking option who finished off his work. I’m a pretty approachable person and I’m looking at earning the trust of the coaches, staff and team mates and contributing to the season positively”.
Eddie Simpson will be available to play in our next clash with Subiaco at Leederville on July 9th.
