Round 3 Match Report
East Fremantle have fallen just two goals short of their maiden win of the 2019 WAFL season, with Peel Thunder winning 12.13 (85) to 11.7 (73).
The Sharks led for the majority of the contest but it was Peel with the final two goals of the game which decided the match.
The intensity from East Fremantle was visible throughout the game, with the side laying an impressive 95 tackles for the match to go with some slick ball movement.
Blaine Boekhorst was impressive on his return from injury collecting 26 disposals and laying 5 tackles while Cameron Eardley was arguably the best player on the ground with 29 disposals, 8 tackles and a goal.
The trio of Schofield, Jansen and Holmes also had great all-round games, combining for 6 goals and 20 tackles between them. Matthew Jupp also continued his great season in defence, leading from the front and being named amongst the best players on the ground.
Tom Monaghan capped off his debut game with a great goal in a solid start to his WAFL career. Monaghan had 14 disposals and 3 tackles. Alex Bray and Morgan Davies continued their good start to the year in the backline, with 22 and 19 disposals respectively.
Round 4 of the WAFL premiership season sees the Sharks take on South Fremantle in the first Fremantle derby of the year. The game is being played at Fremantle Community Bank oval, with Bill Monaghan’s side looking to repeat the intensity and effort shown against Peel to register their first win of the 2019 season.
