Preseason Game 1 vs East Perth
East Fremantle host the Royals this weekend in the first preseason hit out for 2018.
After three months of rigorous training, the boys are set to face a tough contest with East Perth fielding a very strong side.
Ex-AFL recruits, Nick Kommer, Jordan Snadden and Jarrad Jansen will have their first opportunity to show their talent and leadership for the Sharks on Saturday. Captain Jonathon Griffin, Blaine Boekhorst and Cameron Loersch will miss the first scratch match and will be managed alongside other senior players; Cameron Eardley, Brock O’Brien, Jamie McNamara, Jack Perham, Jayden Schofield, James Harrold, Fraser Perry and James Bristow in the lead up to Round 1.
Kimmy Schofield, Sean Fletcher and Jesse Wynne who also joined the Sharks over the preseason will line up for their first time in the blue and white.
Developing ruckman, Michael Cronan will have his work cut out for him, as he goes up against dual All-Australian Nic Naitanui who will play his first football match in 18 months.
2017 premiership winning colt, Tim Bockman, will have his first taste of league football since transitioning into the senior squad over the summer.
Liam Anthony and George Hampson return to senior footy after an injury ravaged their 2017 season.
In promising signs, Ryan Lester-Smith and Brandon Ellis are progressing well on the long-term injury list.
The last possession rule will be implement as a trial during Saturday’s match which awards a free kick against the player adjudged to have last touched the ball with a clear possession before it goes over the boundary line.
