Sharks $100,000 Relay for Life
Author: East Fremantle Football Club

Relay for Life Fremantle, held at ATOM Stadium on the 10th & 11th of October, raised over $100,000 for the Cancer Council. The East Fremantle Football Club and the East Fremantle Women’s Football Club both entered teams, who walked & ran around the 328m track on the Oval for 24 hours. Each team had their own ‘baton’ (a football of course) which they kept moving around the track for the entire 24 hours.
26 other teams took part, and together they raised over $100,000 for the Cancer Council.
Lukas Jones, a member of our Bendigo Bank Academy and a cancer survivor, was the guest speaker at the survivors breakfast and led the survivors group on the first lap to start the relay. He was joined by Club stalwarts Len Anderson and Maureen Gathercole, also cancer survivors. If you’d like to donate to the teams’ fundraising, there’s still time
Thanks to all of the players, staff and family who participated in the Sharks teams, and a special shout out to Matthew Jupp & Tim Bristow who did the midnight to 6am shift!
