Futures Round 3 Wrap Up
On a warm and muggy Saturday, the futures boys headed to Sullivan Logistics Stadium to take on East Perth. It was going to be interesting to see how the team responded to their disappointing display last week against Subiaco.
Early stages of the game saw a battle between two evenly matched teams. A couple of goals to both teams saw us take a slender 1-point lead in to the quarter time break.
The second term saw our midfield start to get on top and our backline stood firm to only concede one point for the term, kicking with the wind, it allowed us to establish a small break of 9 points at the half.
The third term against the wind was our most dominant as we moved the ball better and we were able to work our way through East Perth’s defence to add three goals for the term whilst our backline continued to hold firm.
The final term played our as expected as both sides worked hard to hit the scoreboard. Overall, a much better performance from the team saw us run out 35 point winners.
It was pleasing to see the team play to their structures throughout, whilst they work on improving their skills to cut down on their turnovers.
Finn Griffin was a dominant forward for us with 3 goals , whilst Finlay Yeo and Taj Kale were rewarded for their hard running on the wings winning plenty of the ball.
This week’s game throws some challenges with a lot of forced changes upon the team due to school and summer sports commitments. It will be exciting to see what the new boys coming into the team can bring.
We look forward to taking on Perth this Saturday morning (9th) , for an early 8:40am start at Mineral Resources Park.
