Metro South District Football Academy Program
The Metro South District Football Academy Program took place over two days during the September school holidays. Year 6 and 7 boys and girls from East Fremantle, South Fremantle and Peel took part in the 2-day program. The Program was be led by WAFC Game Development and Coaching Staff, with specialised coaching by trained WAFL and State coaches and Umpiring Staff.
Day 1 saw the players rotate through 9 different stations, focussing on different skills; including kicking, handballing, marking, goal kicking, tackling and an umpiring station as well. The girls also took part in the West Coast Eagles SOAR program, focusing on healthy food, nutrition, and recovery.
Day 2 the players were split into teams and played a round robin style carnival, versing teams from the other districts.
This program gave the young players a taste of what further opportunities look like through development squads and other high-performance programs. It was a great day and all the players thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity with great skill and sportsmanship shown throughout the day.
