Sharks down Royals
East Fremantle will head into the bye full of confidence having won their third game in the past four weeks, convincingly defeating East Perth 3.9 (27) to 13.11 (85).
The Sharks were impressive throughout the game, winning every quarter while keeping the Royals to just three goals for the whole match.
It was the four-quarter effort that would have most impressed East Fremantle coach Bill Monaghan, with his side having to survive late comebacks in their other wins this season.
Blaine Boekhorst was eye-catching throughout the game and was deservedly named amongst the best players on the ground. In his best game of the season, the midfielder recorded 33 disposals, 8 marks and also kicked a goal.
Cameron Eardley and Nick Kommer were also impressive in the midfield, combining for 57 disposals, 8 marks, 6 tackles and a goal to also be named amongst the best players on the ground.
The East Fremantle midfield were given a clear advantage thanks to captain Jonathan Griffin, who sits 8th on the leaderboard for WAFL hit outs despite missing four games earlier in the season. The ruckman led from the front once again with 9 disposals, 34 hit outs and a goal for the Sharks.
Up forward Cameron Loersch and Tom Monaghan continued their good form with two goals apiece while young forward Michael Tassone played the best game of his young career, kicking two goals from his 15 disposals.
Matthew Jupp and Dylan Winton were terrific in their efforts to keep East Perth to just three goals for the match, the former playing his best game of the season with 17 disposals and 6 marks in defence.
With the bye this week, the Sharks’ next game is against the West Coast Eagles reserves side at New Choice Home Park on the 22nd of June. Bill Monaghan’s side will be looking to repeat the four quarter effort shown against East Perth and claim their fourth win in five games.
