Round 15 Preview // East Perth
The young Sharks side face another challenge this week as they head to Leederville Oval on Saturday to take on East Perth.
Despite matching Peel for much of last week’s game, a lapse in the fourth term blew out the final score: a pattern the Sharks will look to break against the Royals.
The teams have already met once this year, where the injury-ravaged side coped a heavy blow from East Perth, who ran all over the top of the Sharks to win by 14 goals.
It’s a tough task for East Fremantle facing the two AFL aligned consecutively, but it also provides a great opportunity for our young players to go against the competitions best.
Dion Anthony has been named in this week’s 25 after collecting 41 disposals and 5 goals in the Development League against Peel. Alex Howson returns to the side after missing last week with illness while Sean Henson and Zac McCarrey are also in the mix.
The Sharks will look to Jayden Schofield to continue his outstanding 2017 form, along with Matthew Watson, who has provided the Sharks with extra bite around the middle of the ground. Cameron Eardley will need to be at his competitive best and with conditions likely to be wet and windy the experience of Andrew Stephen up forward could prove pivotal.
Like the League, both the Development League and Colts are on the hunt for a win, following disappointing losses to Peel last week. George Hampson will make his long awaited return from a hamstring injury, playing limited minutes in the Development League, with a view to return to the seniors next week. With imminent returns of Jonathon Marsh and Jamie McNamara in the coming couple of weeks, things are looking more positive on the injury front (injury update) .
