MARSH'S RETURN TO SHARKS COMPLETE
The East Fremantle Football is extremely pleased to announce that Jonathon Marsh has signed a three year deal, returning to the Sharks after spending the past three years at Collingwood. Marsh’s return to Western Australia has been well documented, however he can’t wait to sink his teeth in to helping the Sharks build on their improved 2016 season. “I’m so excited to be back in Perth and can’t wait to pull on the East Fremantle jumper again. To be back at the club where my family is, with grandad having played here and having other family playing here now is fantastic. I’m really looking forward to helping East Fremantle’s drive for success.”
Marsh was drafted by the Magpies with pick 77 of the 2013 draft and debuted in round 19 of the 2015 season against arch rivals Carlton. That debut would have come sooner had it not been for some hamstring injuries that hampered his progress. In 2016 Jonathon found a niche down back as a key defender and played 10 games , many on the AFL’s best key forwards.
Marsh started at the Sharks, coming through the development squads, playing his first colts game as a 16 year old, before representing the Colts team and being selected in the WA State 18’s in 2013. Whilst Marsh found himself in the Magpies side as a key defender, his versatility will make him a much valued player for East Fremantle. Jonathon was actually drafted as a forward, but prior to that played through the midfield at Colts level and at 194cm and 94kg he will be a tough match up through any part of the ground.
We wish Jonathon all the very best with his return to the “Mighty Sharks”
