Update regarding relocation to new facility
At a Council meeting last night, the Town of East Fremantle rejected our Club’s request for a two-week extension to allow our lawyers to finalise the sub-lease and once again moved the goal posts in relation to the requirements around the sub-lease and license agreements.
Through the recent intervention of the State Government, we were within two weeks of finalising the sub-lease agreement to enable us to move into the facility.
The decision from Council last night – which goes against the recommendation of their CEO – undoes the positive steps that had been taken in recent weeks and sets the relationship between the two parties backwards.
As it stands, we are required to vacate Tricolore Community Centre by October 18, however there is ongoing negotiation (involving the State Government) to ensure that we have a viable alternative before we are forced to relocate.
Our goal remains steadfast—to return to Shark Park under a fair and reasonable lease, just as it has always been.
We have engaged and negotiated in good faith – and are incredibly frustrated that this has not been reciprocated.
We are committed to minimising disruption for our players, members, sponsors and fans and to ensuring that this matter is resolved in time for us to deliver a ‘normal’ season for 2025.
We recognise the impact that this has had on each of you for several years – we don’t take this lightly and we are committed to providing you with a home to cheer your Sharks on alongside our army of members and fans.
We are confident that we remain very close to the finish line – your patience has been tested, but your commitment and dedication to this Club is outstanding, and we ask that you stick by us as we navigate these final hurdles.
