East Fremantle Football Club proudly congratulates three outstanding members of the Sharks family following their recognition at the 2026 Western Australian Football Hall of Fame, with Harry Taylor and Josh Kennedy inducted and club great Ray Sorrell elevated to Legend status.

The honour recognises the extraordinary impact each has had on football in Western Australia and beyond, and reflects the proud role East Fremantle has played in their football journeys.

Harry Taylor

Former East Fremantle defender Harry Taylor has been inducted into the WA Football Hall of Fame following a decorated career across both the WAFL and AFL.

Taylor first made his mark at East Fremantle, playing 49 WAFL games and kicking 34 goals for the Sharks between 2005–2007, before returning for a final season in 2021.

His performances earned him an opportunity with Geelong, where he went on to enjoy an outstanding AFL career. Across 280 AFL games, Taylor became one of the league’s most respected key defenders and a central figure in Geelong’s success during the late 2000s and early 2010s.

During his AFL career Taylor was a two-time All-Australian (2010, 2013) and a two-time Geelong premiership player (2009, 2011). He also received the Geelong Best First Year Player Award in 2008, represented Australia in International Rules in 2014 and 2015, and was recognised for his leadership and community work with the Jim Stynes Community Leadership Medal in 2015.

Across both competitions, Taylor finished with 329 senior games and 109 goals, leaving a legacy as one of the most accomplished defenders of his era.

Josh Kennedy

Another proud East Fremantle product recognised on the night was champion forward Josh Kennedy, whose remarkable career made him one of the AFL’s most dominant key forwards.

Kennedy began his senior football journey with the Sharks, playing 15 WAFL games and kicking 27 goals for East Fremantle across 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2012.

He then went on to enjoy a stellar AFL career with Carlton and the West Coast Eagles, playing 293 AFL games and kicking 723 AFL goals, including 271 games and 712 goals for West Coast — making him the Eagles’ all-time leading goalkicker.

Kennedy’s achievements at AFL level were extraordinary. He was a three-time All-Australian (2015, 2016, 2017), a two-time John Coleman Medallist (2015, 2016) as the AFL’s leading goalkicker, and a premiership player with West Coast in 2018.

He also won the Glendinning–Allan Medal three times and was named West Coast’s leading goalkicker eight times, highlighting his sustained dominance as one of the competition’s premier forwards.

Across all competitions, Kennedy finished his career with 321 senior games and 774 goals.

Ray Sorrell Elevated to Legend Status

In another moment of immense pride for the Sharks, East Fremantle great Ray Sorrell was elevated to Legend status in the WA Football Hall of Fame.

Sorrell is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Western Australian football history.

He played 178 WAFL games and kicked 64 goals before later spending two seasons as captain-coach of South Fremantle in 1964 and 1965, leaving a lasting impact both on and off the field.

His individual achievements were extraordinary, winning the Sandover Medal twice (1961, 1963) as the WAFL’s best and fairest player and claiming the Simpson Medal twice in 1962. Sorrell was also named All-Australian (WAFL) in 1958 and 1961.

His contribution to East Fremantle saw him later named in the East Fremantle Team of the Century (2007) and the Fremantle Team of Legends.

Already recognised with induction into the WA Football Hall of Fame in 2004 and the AFL Hall of Fame in 2016, his elevation to Legend status further cements his place among the greatest figures in the history of Western Australian football.
