SHARKS FALL JUST SHORT IN THRILLER AGAINST CLAREMONT

East Fremantle suffered a heartbreaking six-point defeat on Saturday afternoon, falling to Claremont 10.5 (65) to 10.11 (71) in an entertaining contest at The Good Grocer Park.

The Sharks matched the Tigers for much of the afternoon in front of a strong home crowd, with the two sides locked in a tight battle from the opening bounce. East Fremantle remained within striking distance throughout before producing a determined final-quarter fightback, but Claremont did enough to hold on in the closing stages and claim the narrow victory.

The Round 12 fixture also marked the club’s Kai Fella Foundation Match, with the occasion providing an important opportunity to recognise mental health while bringing the football community together for a meaningful cause.

Cam Eardley produced one of his strongest performances of the season and was named among East Fremantle’s best, alongside Zac Rankin, Chadd Dunscombe, Tom Joyce and Jack Cleaver, who all worked tirelessly across four quarters to keep the Sharks in the contest.

Up forward, Liam Robinson, Phoenix Knight and Oscar Smartt each finished with two goals, while Noah Dean, Griffin Vladich, Austin Ball and Cam Eardley added one apiece. The Sharks generated enough opportunities to challenge one of the competition’s leading sides but were left to rue a decisive third quarter where Claremont gained the ascendency.

Despite the disappointing result, East Fremantle showed resilience and character to push the Tigers right to the final siren, producing a much-improved performance against a side that had comfortably defeated them earlier in the season.

The Sharks will now look to regroup and build on the positives from Saturday’s performance as they prepare for another important challenge in Round 13.

RESERVES: SHARKS RESERVES FALL TO CLAREMONT

East Fremantle Reserves were unable to overcome Claremont on Saturday, going down in a hard-fought contest at The Good Grocer Park.

The Sharks battled strongly throughout the afternoon and remained competitive for long periods, but Claremont proved more efficient with its opportunities and gradually built an advantage that East Fremantle was unable to reel in during the second half.

Despite the result, several Sharks produced encouraging performances. The midfield worked tirelessly to match Claremont around the contest, while the defensive group stood up under constant pressure to keep the visitors within reach for much of the game.

East Fremantle showed plenty of determination and continued to fight until the final siren, but the Tigers’ composure and ability to capitalise on key moments ultimately proved the difference.

The Sharks will look to regroup quickly and take the positives into Round 13 as they aim to return to the winners’ list.

COLTS: SHARKS COLTS RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

East Fremantle Colts produced a determined defensive performance to record a 3-point victory over Claremont, 5.9 (39) to 4.12 (36), at The Good Grocer Park.

In a tough, low-scoring contest, the Sharks controlled the game for long periods despite inaccurate kicking in front of goal. East Fremantle created plenty of opportunities throughout the afternoon and was rewarded with a well-earned victory after restricting the Tigers to just four goals.

The Sharks’ defence was outstanding across all four quarters, continually repelling Claremont’s forward entries and refusing to allow the visitors any sustained momentum. Their pressure around the contest and willingness to work for one another proved instrumental in securing the win.

The victory keeps East Fremantle firmly in the top-three on the Colts ladder and provides another confidence boost as the young Sharks continue their strong season.

East Fremantle will now look to carry that momentum into Round 13 as they continue their push towards the finals.
