It was a challenging day for East Fremantle across all three grades at Revo Fitness Stadium on Saturday, with the Sharks unable to come away with a win against Claremont.
While the results were disappointing, there were still several strong individual performances and valuable lessons to take from a difficult afternoon.
League: Sharks Fall to Tigers
East Fremantle were defeated by Claremont in the League clash, with the Tigers running out 21.11 (137) to 3.8 (26) winners.
The Sharks found it tough to gain momentum against a polished Claremont side but continued to compete throughout the contest. Despite the scoreboard, the group will take plenty of learnings from the performance as they look to bounce back next week.
East Fremantle’s best players were Tom Joyce, Toby Alker, Jono Marsh and Kyle Baskerville.
Joyce was outstanding through the midfield with 35 disposals, while Baskerville gathered 31 touches. Marsh added 20 disposals, and Alker battled strongly in defence.
Reserves: Strong Efforts Despite Defeat
The Reserves were also unable to get the result, going down 22.10 (142) to 5.8 (38).
Despite the margin, Declan Pauline and Chadd Duscombe worked tirelessly all day, finishing with 24 and 21 disposals respectively. Griffin Vladich was dangerous in front of goal and provided a highlight with three majors.
Colts: Heartbreak by a Single Point
The Colts were desperately unlucky, falling by just one point in a thrilling contest, 8.9 (57) to 8.10 (58).
It was a brave effort from the young Sharks, who fought the game right to the final siren and were just unable to snatch the result.
Josh Nathan was prolific around the ground with an outstanding 37 disposals and six tackles, while Kye Omerod hit the scoreboard strongly with three goals.
Looking Ahead
While it was a tough day overall, there were plenty of positives in individual performances and areas to improve on. The Sharks will regroup this week and look to respond strongly in the next round.
