Sharks welcome Matthew Watson
Author: East Fremantle Football Club

The East Fremantle Football is delighted to announce that we have signed delisted Carlton player Matthew Watson for the 2016 & 2017 season.
Senior Coach Rob Wiley, who coached Matthew at Carlton over the last 3 years, is looking forward to continuing Matthew’s development, stating “Matthew is big young developing forward and back who has enormous talent, a good contested mark and a thumping left foot. We think he is a great acquisition for the Club.”
The Club has been lacking a key forward with size and strength for a few years and believe he will be a vital cog in our resurgence up the ladder in 2016.
Matthew is a nephew of former Essendon Premiership ruckman Steve Alessio, Matthew Watson was recruited by the Blues at selection 18 in the from the Calder Cannons Under-18s. Tall and strong-bodied at 195 cm and 102 kg, Matthew began his football venture at Essendon Grammar School and Pascoe Vale before joining the Cannons, where he went on to represent Vic Metro in the Under-18 National Carnival and won All Australian selection at centre half-back.
