East Fremantle Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of James Depane as our WAFLW Operations Manager.

A former player with both East Perth Football Club and East Fremantle, James returns to the Sharks with a deep connection to the club and a genuine passion for developing people and programs. Over the past decade, he has built an impressive résumé across coaching and sports administration, most recently with WA Football, and previously contributing as a recruiter with St Kilda Football Club (AFL).

James brings extensive experience in player management, operational systems, and strategic planning—qualities that will strengthen our WAFLW program and support sustained on-field success. His commitment to professionalism and diligence ensures our female program continues to grow while remaining competitive year after year.

Importantly, James has already made a meaningful impact at East Fremantle, having coached our inaugural WAFLW Development League side to a Grand Final appearance. He is highly regarded for fostering a safe, inclusive, and nurturing football environment, while empowering players and staff to learn, develop, and thrive.

James Depane on his appointment:

“I’m truly grateful to be appointed as our WAFLW Football Operations Manager. I’m fortunate to know a number of our current players and look forward to getting in and providing a healthy and professional environment for both players and staff. A focus on consistent standards and a clear understanding that talent alone will only get you so far.

I’m respectful of what has come before—the hard work, dedication, and advocacy that has ensured our players are given every opportunity to reach their full potential, individually and collectively. A ‘one club’ mentality will be a key focus, as we continue to strengthen the connection between our WAFL and WAFLW programs both on and off the field.”

James has officially commenced in the role, and we look forward to the leadership, care, and expertise he will bring to our WAFLW program.

Please join us in welcoming James to the role.
