The East Fremantle Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of David Emes as the new Senior Coach of its WAFLW program.

 

Emes joins the Sharks with a proven track record of coaching success across the WAFL talent pathway and community football. A Level III (Gold) AFL Accredited Coach, he has built a reputation as a respected leader with a focus on player development, game strategy, and building high-performance cultures.

 

Most recently, Emes spearheaded the establishment of the Kingsway Football Club Women’s Program in the 2025 season, guiding the team to an outstanding 17-2 record and a Grand Final appearance in its inaugural season. His ability to build programs from the ground up, develop talent, and foster team unity has been widely recognised.

 

His WAFL coaching experience also includes multiple roles at Subiaco Football Club in the talent and development pathway. Emes has also coached across junior and senior levels in Victoria, further strengthening his understanding of player pathways and the wider football ecosystem. In addition, he is the Founder and Head Coach of the Fast Start Football Academy, established in 2016, which provides advanced development opportunities for young players aged 13–17, focusing on skill acquisition, football IQ, and game preparation.

 

Away from the field, Emes brings a strong corporate background in leadership, training, and organisational development, giving him a unique ability to engage stakeholders at every level of the game — from players and coaches through to board members, sponsors, and the broader community.

 

Speaking on his appointment, Emes said he was excited to join East Fremantle and contribute to the club’s proud legacy in women’s football. – “I am passionate about coaching and developing athletes to reach their full potential, both individually and as part of a cohesive team. I look forward to building on the foundations already in place at East Fremantle and helping the Sharks achieve sustained success in the WAFLW competition.”
