Coming into Round 6, East Fremantle were building momentum and pushing to stay in touch with the top sides, while Perth were looking to stabilise their season after inconsistent early form. With both teams sitting around the middle of the ladder, this clash was important in shaping early finals positioning.

East Fremantle started strongly, applying forward pressure and converting early chances to take a narrow lead. Perth stayed competitive, matching the Sharks around the contest but struggled to generate clean inside 50s.

Quarter time scores: East Fremantle 2.1 (13) to Perth 1.0 (6).

In the second quarter, Perth lifted their intensity and began to find more of the ball through the midfield, briefly taking control of field position. However, led by Noa McNaughton who had a huge impact, East Fremantle remained composed and efficient going forward, maintaining a slight advantage at the main break. Half time scores: East Fremantle 4.2 (26) to Perth 3.1 (19)

The third quarter proved to be the decisive quarter for the Sharks, tightening in defence and restricting Perth’s scoring. Jae Flynn’s run off half back was influential, with East Fremantle controlling territory and capitalising on turnovers to extend the margin.

Three Quarter time scores: East Fremantle 6.2 (38) to Perth 3.2 (20)

It was a tight final term as both sides struggled to add to the scoreboard, with defensive structures dominating. East Fremantle’s backline stood firm under pressure to close out a positive win.
