WAFLW: SHARKS UNABLE TO FINISH OFF GOOD WORK
East Fremantle suffered a tough 3-point defeat on Saturday afternoon, falling to Claremont 4.8 (32) to 4.5 (29) in an entertaining contest at Revo Fitness Stadium.
The Sharks led the match for majority of the day, but unfortunately fell short in the final quarter as Claremont scored 7 points to East Fremantle’s 0.
Ruckman Zoe Keley produced a dominant display across the field, with 32 hit-outs and, 18 disposals and 13 tackles. Jae Flynn, Anjelique Raison and Sarah Wielstra also had best on performances.
Up forward, Lara Fuller kicked 2 goals, and 1 goal was kicked by Sarah Wielstra and Eve Wilson-Sieber both.
Despite the disappointing final quarter, the Sharks showed their footy stacks up against the competitions best teams and will look to keep improving their form.
ROGERS CUP: 8 STRAIGT
The Sharks’ Rogers Cup side continues to impress with an astounding 47-point victory over Claremont at Revo Fitness Stadium on Saturday.
The contest was tight in the first half, with both teams kicking 2 goals in the first quarter, but the Sharks quickly put the contest to bed after half time, kicking 4 goals to 1.
Chloe Palmer and Indi Richardson were the main recipients of the domination, with 4 goals each to their names, while Lucinta Akerman, Olivia Stott, Laila O’Connor and Stella Hasleby all scored 1 goal each.
This makes it 8 wins in a row for the Rogers cup girls and 10 for the season overall. The Rogers Cup girls will go into Round 14 some confidence as they take on Swan Districts at Steele Blue Oval who sit second on the ladder.
