Rd 8 - Colts Wrap Up
East Fremantle Colts went down to ladder leaders West Perth by 13 points this past Saturday at the WACA. The first quarter was a dour affair as both sides struggled for clean possession with the home side fortunate to head into the first change only 9 points in arrears.
The game opened up in the second term with each side experiencing periods of control with Luke Yeo booting two important majors for the Sharks.
Blake Luxton’s goal off the ground at the beginning of the third term reduced the margin to single figures providing a much needed spark to the Sharks. The remainder of the quarter saw both sides trade goals before a late major to West Perth as rain fell over the ground extended their lead to 22 points.
The home side threatened to challenge again after consecutive goals to Phoenix Knight and Finn O’Reilly however West Perth responded as they did all day kicking the next three goals to seal victory.
Better players were versatile tall Jayke Scott (26 touches, 22 hit outs, 9 clearances and 11 inside 50’s), Jack Johnston (19 disposals, 7 clearances and 6 tackles), Chadd Dunscombe (21 disposals at 76% efficiency and 9 tackles), Luke Yeo (17 disposals, 5 marks, 4 clearances and 2 goals) and Phoenix Knight (22 touches and 1 goal).
Next week the Sharks take on Claremont at 9.10 am at the WACA
