Sharks Aim for Two in a Row
The Sharks are on the hunt to stay in the winner’s circle when they take on the Tigers this Saturday at Claremont Oval.
Boosted by last week’s win, East Fremantle will look to build on their winning form and make it two in a row for the first time since round 9 & 10 of the 2016 season. It will be no easy feat with Claremont coming off the bye and looking to secure their first win for 2018 after a close loss to West Perth in Round 1.
The last time these two teams met was the opening of Claremont Oval in 2017, where the Tigers prevailed in a nail-biting 3-point win. However the Sharks should take confidence from that outing in to this week after storming home in the second half of that game to nearly pinch the victory.
The side goes relatively unchanged with Josh Cuneo, Jayden Schofield and Russell Wynne coming into the Sharks extended squad. Should Wynne make the final 22, it will be his debut. Schofield will be fresh after a week out, while Cuneo’s recent form in the Development League has been very solid (team lineup below).
James Bristow returns via the Development League this week, after missing last round with concussion. Like the senior boys, the Dev. League will be chasing two on the trot. Others in to the squad this week include Aiden Wainwright, Tim Bristow, Jye Stone and Jamie Meade.
The colts will be hungry for improvement after a below par performance last week. Some big inclusions come in to the squad, with Joyce returning from AFL Academy duties, along with Jones, Murdock and Davidson.
