Another BIG Signing
East Fremantle’s rigorous recruiting campaign continues with the crucial signing of big man Cameron Loersch.
Standing at 203cm, the forward/ruck is known for his ability to take a strong contested mark. Coach Rob Wiley said his strength and size are set to have a major impact on the Sharks in 2018.
“Loersch is a welcomed addition, giving us some marking power up forward as well as being able to ruck,” he said.
Selected in the 2016 AFL Rookie Draft, the 22-year-old returns to WA after 2 years on the Gold Coast Suns’ list. Despite some fantastic appearances in the NEAFL including a 7-goal haul, Loersch wasn’t able to break into the Suns side and unfortunately was delisted at the end of the season.
A dominant big man, Loersch took out the Colts WAFL leading goal kicker in 2014, finishing with 57 for the year. Illness forced him out of footy for 12 months in 2015 and after his recovery period, he still managed to catch the eye of recruiters.
Loersch still has hopes to be picked up in the 2017 AFL Draft, but has otherwise committed to the Sharks for the next two seasons
