Round 17 Preview // Perth

East Fremantle hosts the Perth Demons tomorrow in a bid to move off the bottom of the ladder.

The injury plagued Sharks welcome the return of several key players and with Jayden Schofield playing his 100^th game, Saturday looks set to be a good one.

The anomaly of this year’s fixtures sees the two teams meeting just 4 weeks after their most recent encounter. Perth walked away as the victors in round 4, but it was the Sharks who dominated the next match, with a 58-point win.

Into the 25 this week comes Jesse Adamini, Jye Clements, Jonathon Marsh, James Harrold and Zac Mccarrey.

Marsh has missed the last 5 matches after sustaining an ankle injury in the WA Derby. His presence in the midfield will be a welcomed return, particular against Perth ball winner, Clint Jones.

Adamini and Harrold who’s 2017 season has been hindered by injury, returned to the Development League and will be knocking on the door for League selection this week.

Jayden Schofield will look to continue his outstanding form as he runs out for his 100^th League game tomorrow. Originally from the Midwest region, ‘Schoey’ played his junior football at the Railways Football Club, prior to playing Colts at EFFC in 2010.

As an integral member of that 2010 Colts Premiership team, he was selected in the State 18’s that year and named in the WAFL Colts Team of the Year.

In 2010 Schoey was drafted by the Western Bulldogs with pick 74. He made his AFL debut in round 13 of the 2011 season against Adelaide and played 7 games in his first year.

Unfortunately for Jayden at the end of that season his desire to be home with family brought a premature end to his AFL career but that has been the Sharks gain! This weekend he becomes the 5^th player to have their name on locker number 13.

Noted for his speed and attacking flair, Schoey has really blossomed over the past two seasons, and 2017 may just be his best year to date, averaging close to 27 possessions per game. A highly skilled, hugely talented player who at just 25 years of age, is well on his way to a long and distinguished career at the Sharks.

Both the Colts and Development League have now won two games in a row, giving the boys the confidence as head they head towards the finals.

With Perth sitting one game clear of the Sharks in the Development League, tomorrow’s clash will be an important test for our boys.

Despite holding the top spot, the Colts suffered a disappointing loss to Perth in Round 13 and will work hard to ensure they take the four points this time.
